I tried NatureBright Light Therapy because I have been afflicted with SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder) for more than 8 years and have been on andi-depressants every winter. It's a small lightweight lamp that you put on your table. It emits a bright light and it also simulates sunrise. I tried it last winter and for a cheap price (0), it did a pretty good job. I stopped taking my meds after 2 weeks of using this lamp. All you have to do is turn the lamp on and a light will be emitted that is good enough replacement for sunlight.
I use it every morning because I read that we need light every morning to perk us up and that the main reason for SAD is not having sunlight in the morning. At first, I didn't notice anything. To me, it looked like just like any other study lamp. I tried it for a week with my meds and on the second week, I noticed some differences in my mood. On the third week, I decided to stop my medication and continue with my morning ritual. The light therapy really works. I read my morning paper at my room desk near the NatureBright light therapy lamp. The instructions said that you have to turn it on for at least 30 minutes but I stayed longer when I read the morning paper. The manual also says that light therapy can also help with sleeping problems. I still have to try this feature though because I haven't had sleeping problems in a while.
